Dental Chew Toys & Treats

The next best thing you can do besides brushing your pet’s teeth is to give them specially designed and formulated dental chews, toys, and treats.  We have our favorite list and a list of ones to avoid.

GOOD Chews, Treats, & Toys

The Kong. This toy is great for helping keep your pet’s teeth clean.  We also carry other shapes and sizes.
C.E.T. Dental Chew Treats are great for chewing and work well at eliminating the build-up of tartar on the teeth.
Tartar Shield treats are another favorite treat we like.  This product does a great job keeping the teeth clean and white.
Strips of Rawhide are safe for chewing and can aid in the removal of tartar build-up on your pet’s teeth.    Notice there are no knobs or knuckles to chew off and swallow.  This design is safer.

BAD Chews, Treats, & Toys

Rawhide Treats with Knuckles or knots can be very dangerous.  Sometimes the entire knot breaks off and your dog will swallow it whole.  This knot can then cause an obstruction – a very serious, life threatening situation.
Animal Bones can be brittle and hard and can fracture or break your dog’s teeth.  Smaller parts can break off and if swallowed can cause an obstruction.
Pig’s Feet or Cow Hooves are hard and can damage your pet’s teeth and can harbor bacteria that can upset your pet’s stomach and cause diarrhea.
Nylabones or Hard Plastic Bones are very hard and can cause the teeth to break or fracture.
Greenies have certainly become more popular in the last few years.  They are very tasty.  They are high in calories.
