International Travel

FAQ’s

Why does my pet need another microchip?
You can use your Home Again or Avid chip if you provide a reader. Readers rent for about $40 per month. You would need to carry that with you everywhere you go for as long as you were in any European country.
Why does my pet need another rabies vaccine?
Each country determines the order of protocol for traveling. Most European countries require a permanent form of identification first, ie; microchip implanted then the rabies vaccine. In some cases, two Rabies vaccines are required.
Why does it cost so much to travel to another country?
There is a lot of research, paperwork, and document prep work that goes into traveling with a pet. We are giving you peace of mind that you and your pet will arrive safely and worry free to your destination.
Is there any country that is easier to travel than others?
Yes, traveling to Canada is as easy as having a current Rabies vaccine and an International Health Certificate. Don’t forget your passport though.
How long is my pet’s Health Certificate good for?
If you are traveling within the Continental US, it expires after 30 days.
What kind of microchip do you recommend for International Travel?
We recommend the ISO microchip. It reads at a higher frequency and used as the universal microchip for European Travel. It has 15 digits and reads at 134.2 kHz whereas the Home Again and Avid reads at 125 kHz and 128 kHz respectively.
