Don McCoy, DVM
Dr. McCoy graduated from Purdue University in 1970. He purchased North Portland Veterinary Hospital on Killingsworth in 1972. He and his wife of over 43 years, Melinda, have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Their daughter, Pam, is a Veterinary Technician and son, Jason, is a Biostatistics Statistician. While Dr. McCoy’s real passion is veterinary medicine, he also enjoys scuba diving. He can still run 5 miles three times a week, but not as often or fast as he used to. He has served on the Board of the Oregon Humane Society, Portland Veterinary Medical Association, and Dove Lewis Emergency Clinic. Dr. McCoy works full time, sees appointments three days a week, and performs dental and surgical procedures on Wednesdays. He mainly sees dogs and cats.
Our veterinarians have graduated from different universities across the United States. We believe this diversity creates a wonderful blend of thoughts, ideas, styles, and best ways of approaching the challenges of veterinary medicine. Our doctors meet on a regular basis to talk about cases and evaluate the latest developments and medical breakthroughs. They also attend continuing education seminars and workshops each year to stay current.
All of our doctors are fabulous. You may already have some favorites. Just let us know if you have a specific doctor preference and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.
